About Pearl
Pearl Island sits at the entrance to Roche Harbor, off the north end of San Juan Island. It's a small private island with a few waterfront homes and private docks. Because it's so close to Roche Harbor, owners tend to use their houses more than owners on the far outer islands do, which means more interior work and more small repairs between visits.
Every house on Pearl faces the water. Salt and wind are hard on exterior doors and windows, deck finishes, and anything metal. Resealing doors and windows and deck staining and sealing are the jobs that keep the bigger repairs away.

Boat days and what I can bring
Pearl is billed as a boat day: $1,295 all in, covering the skiff, fuel, and my tools and small materials. There are no half days, so it works best when the list is long, or when a couple of Pearl and Henry Island owners share the same day.
My boat is a 16-foot skiff. It carries me, my tools, and small materials, and 20 feet is the honest ceiling on board length.
Property care on Pearl
If your house sits empty between visits, property care means a walkthrough inside and out, small fixes on the spot, and photos the same day. Checks on Pearl are scheduled as boat days when the water allows.
